The Award Ceremonies for the 21st Annual Abacus and Mental Arithmetic Assessment Test in Southern California and the East Coast were held June 7th and June 15th.

The Award Ceremonies for the 21st Annual Abacus and Mental Arithmetic Assessment Test in the Midwest and Northern California were held May 30th and June 1st.
Congratulations to our scholarship winners for 2014: Stephanie Chen, Kayla Luong, Darren Lau, Kacie Fong, Tasha Tsao, Tiffany Chu, and Bryan Xu.
Further congratulations to our two Advanced Level 10 Scholars, Michelle Fong and Stephanie Chen, both of whom achieved Advanced Level 10 in abacus.

Registration for Summer 2014 International events in China and Japan ended May 15th, 2014.
CAAA is attending three international abacus and mental arithmetic competitions this year, in Beijing, Okinawa, and Taipei. For more information, please visit our International Competitions page.
The 21st Annual Abacus and Mental Arithmetic Assessment Test occurred May 3-9, 2014.
CAAA Assessment Tests were held on May 3rd in Southern California, on May 4th in Northern California and Massachusetts, and on May 9th in Michigan. Pictures from the Northern California test are available on our Picasa site.
The 2014 CAAA Scholarship application process ended on April 20th, 2014.
CAAA awards scholarships annually to eligible abacus and mental arithmetic students who have demonstrated outstanding performance and growth during the course of their studies. Finalists will be recognized at the Assessment Test and Scholarship Award Ceremony in their respective testing region.
The 2014 CAAA Annual Meeting and Teacher's Workshop was held on December 29th, 2013.
CAAA held its annual meeting at the Berryessa Youth Center on December 29th. We would like to welcome and thank our four new advisors, and congratulate our five new student members. Our new advisors are Ming Wu, Tony Chen, Linda Chen, and Robin Wang. Our new student members are Michelle Fong, Alex Jang, Jerry Sun, Stephanie Ta, and Patrick Wong.
Student, teacher and parent volunteers shared their enthusiasm in abacus culture at the Cultural Fair on October 5th.
Local families gathered at the Cultural Fair held at the Berryessa Branch Library on October 5th. The CAAA booth attracted many children and adults to build their own personal mini abacus, and provided lessons on abacus history and its uses. CAAA students competed at international competitions held in Chiayi and New Taipei City, Taiwan.
Twenty-five students, family members, and teachers represented CAAA at the World City Cup Competition from July 28-29 in Chiayi City and the Taiwan Chamber of Commerce Invitational Competition on August 4 in New Taipei City. Congratulations to all competing students on their well-deserved accolades!
The 8th Teachers' Training Seminar was held in Northern CA on June 22-23, 2013.
The two-day training seminar prepared aspiring abacus instructors for teaching abacus cultural classes at community Chinese schools. Participants acquired a stronger grasp on the principles of teaching and lesson planning, and sharpened their teaching skills through practicum.
